What's New in TARGIT? See Our Latest 2024 Features

Our development team is continually releasing product updates, bug fixes, and brand new features designed to enhance your TARGIT experience and equip your entire organization with actionable business insights. 

This effort is supported by the new “stateless” architecture we introduced in 2023, which enables the continuous deployment of new features and updates with minimal disruption to your TARGIT environment. 

We've released a variety of new product features in 2024 so far, including front-end features designed to optimize the TARGIT interface and back-end features built to enable faster, more precise data analysis. 

In this blog, we'll highlight the most notable features released in the past six months and share some exciting updates about what's next on our feature roadmap.

Copy/Paste Criteria Bar Across Documents

Quickly Reuse the Same Criteria Bar Across Multiple Documents

Cloud Release: March 13, 2024 | On-Prem Release: April 29, 2024

 

Now, you can easily copy all elements from the criteria bar in one dashboard to the criteria bar in another dashboard.  

Simply right-click the criteria bar you wish to copy, and paste it into the destination dashboard to carry over the following elements in a single click:

  • Dimensions
  • User dimensions
  • Measure selectors
  • Stored criteria selector
  • Dynamic data origin selector

Support For Member Property Behavior in Crosstab 

Associate Dimension Members in TARGIT, Frontend Rather Than Backend

Cloud Release: April 22, 2024 | On-Prem Release: April 29, 2024

 

A 'Member Property' refers to any additional piece of information that can be added to an existing dimension with a 1:1 relation. Now, you can improve performance in TARGIT by designating Member Properties for tabular data models. 

Simply select the 'Behave as member property' option when designing the content of your object (crosstabs or other objects types). When fetching data, the standard subtotals will be disabled, but more importantly, performance will be a lot better - especially for large crosstabs with many dimensions on the same axis.

Execute straightforward API calls with fixed parameters and preview results instantly by clicking the 'Send' button. Then, easily set up import tasks using the REST API data source, transforming API responses into InMemory tables for further analysis.

Copy/Paste Documents to File System

Copy Documents to the Virtual File System Through the TARGIT Windows Client

Cloud Release: May 1, 2024 | On-Prem Release: May 1, 2024

 

Now, you can easily copy/paste files between a Virtual File System (VFS) and the Windows File System. This feature also allows you to edit documents "offline" and copy these documents back to the VFS without having direct access to the VFS folder. 

In certain situations, you may need to alter document properties across your entire library or conduct a similar style of large-scale update. The Copy/paste feature supports multi-selecting documents from the TARGIT VFS structure and copying and pasting them to and from the Windows file system, saving you immense time and effort in updating your documents.

Trigger Options: Export

Export Layout From Current Document or Other Document to Excel and PDF

Cloud Release: May 15, 2024 | On-Prem Release: May 15, 2024

 

Use the 'Export' action in a Trigger to export either the "active" document or "other" document to either Excel or PDF. If the document contains multiple layouts, you can specify which layout it should export.

Enjoy more flexible export options by using Triggers to export the following layouts to Excel:

  • Default layout. The trigger will export all objects from the first layout in your document's layout list.
  • Active layout. (Only available for export of 'active document') The trigger will export all objects from the layout where the trigger was activated.
  • First report layout. The trigger will export all objects from the first layout of the type 'Report layout' in your document's layout list.
  • First dashboard layout. The trigger will export all objects from the first layout of the type 'Dashboard layout' in your document's layout list.
  • Named layout. Based on the document's layout names, you can select a specific layout for export.
  • All layouts. (Only available for Excel export) The trigger will export all unique objects from all layouts in the selected document. Linked objects, that may be used in multiple layouts, will only be exported once.

Tab-Based Job Editing

Efficiently Create, Modify, and Compare Multiple Scheduled Jobs

Cloud Release: October 3, 2024 | On-Prem Release: Q4 2024

Easily edit and compare multiple jobs simultaneously with TARGIT’s new Tab-Based Job Editing feature. Edit job definitions in tabs instead of the current dialog and experience the convenience of copying and pasting properties between similar jobs in just a few clicks, saving you from the hassle of starting each job from scratch.  

Plus, see a complete view of all job settings on a single page and quickly access a complete log of all scheduled jobs. From there, you can select and update individual jobs effortlessly.
